Timber suspension bridges are a common sight in the rural settings of Sabah, enabling local villagers to cross often wide and treacherous rivers of this Borneon state. These bridges sometimes are the only mean of connection to the other side of a river, making them key rural infrastructures. In recent years, there have been attempts to increase awareness and call to maintain these bridges.
Are rural infrastructures such as these any less important than the infrastructure of our cities? What can and should be done to track and maintain our rural infrastructure?
