Mines Residence

Kuala Lumpur

Mines Residence

A ten-metre cantilever shaped by the architecture and the hillside.

The proposed residence by CPLA + O2DA crosses a hillside with approximately 5 m of level change. A 10 m cantilever and sculpted supports are central to its reinforced-concrete structure.

Making the cantilever part of the architectural language

The reinforced-concrete scheme uses tapered transfer beams and sculpted columns to support the projecting floors. Secondary floor beams complete the gravity load path into the principal supports.

Developing structure with the architecture

The transfer elements and columns are prominent parts of the design. Their geometry was developed with the architectural spaces and the changing site levels.
